Schedule
Dress code: Cocktail/Semi-formal
Kids welcomed!
Please NO CELL PHONES during the ceremony.
We estimate the ceremony will end around 4:30 PM at which time non-immediate family and friends not in the wedding party can go to Ocean's 8 (three minute walk from the church) while we take final photos. We'll meet there shortly after. If this sounds like how you'd like to spend your Saturday evening in NYC, please let us know so we can get a rough headcount.
Dress code: Cocktail/Semi-formal
No kids. If you're traveling with a child, please let us know as soon as possible, and we'll arrange to have a babysitter watch them at our home during the party.
Travel & Lodging
The closest airports are JFK and LaGuardia.
Uber Shuttles are available to/from both LGA and JFK and can be pre-booked up to a week in advance. From LGA: drop-offs locations at Atlantic Terminal/Grand Army Plaza/Prospect Park (Brooklyn) and Grand Central/Port Authority (Manhattan). From JFK: drop-offs at Grand Central/Port Authority (Manhattan).
If flying into JFK and staying in Brooklyn, we recommend taking the airport AirTrain to Jamaica, then taking the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to Atlantic Terminal (Barclay's Center). The AirTrain is $8.50 and LIRR CityTicket is $5 or $7 (off-peak vs peak pricing). If flying into JFK and staying in Manhattan, you can instead take the LIRR to Penn Station or Grand Central.
If flying into LGA and staying in Manhattan, you can take the free Q70 LaGuardia Link bus from Terminals B or C to Woodside where you can then transfer onto the LIRR towards Penn Station or Grand Central.
St. John's is a 15 minute walk to Atlantic Av/Barclay's Center. The closest stops to the church are 7 Av on the B& Q lines or Grand Army Plaza on the 2& 3.
The reception venue, Turk's Inn, is right off the Jefferson St stop on the L line.
Pro Tip: Put your phone in airplane mode when riding the subway. Batteries drain extremely fast when underground.
Brooklyn has an excellent public transportation system with subways and buses that can take you to our venues and most tourist attractions.
Google Maps is usually very accurate! But if you want the most accurate arrival times, download the official MTA app. All NYC subways and buses are tap-to-pay making getting around very simple; just tap your phone or credit card.
If you'll be taking the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to/from the JFK AirTrain Jamaica station or LaGuardia Link Q70 Woodside station, you can purchase LIRR tickets at the station, or download the MTA TrainTime app to buy - remember to activate the digital ticket once boarded!
We strongly recommend staying in Brooklyn for the weekend as the NYC Marathon will be taking place on Sunday, November 2nd, which may cause significant traffic delays and road closures throughout the city.
Brooklyn offers many hotel options, and you'll be much closer to our celebration venues. Plus, you'll get to experience the charm of our borough!

NYC Tips & Tricks
With our wedding aligning with Halloweekend, you've gotta go to the Halloween Parade on Friday - it is an INCREDIBLE experience! It's in Greenwich Village in Manhattan and always starts at 7:00pm Halloween night (Oct 31).
Many OG businesses only accept cash, and places that do take card often have a cash discount - be sure to ask!
Try to get selected to be an audience member for a TV live taping (free). At the end of October/start of November, it looks like there will be tapings of The Kelly Clarkson Show, The View, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Chances are slim, but might as well enter!
Download the Bloomberg Connects app for tons of self-guided tours all around the city. If you plan to wander around Central Park, check out the Central Park Conservancy website for plenty of self-guided park tours (or pay to take one of their in-person tours).
When in New York, you've got to see at least one show! There's always something good on Broadway, and the Met Opera season will be in full swing around the time of our wedding.
If there's something in particular you're dying to see, we recommend getting advance tickets; but if you're not set on one and want to get cheap last-minute deals, here are the tricks:
• Online Lotteries & Rush Tickets (up to 2 tickets):
Use the following sites to enter the online lotteries in the morning/early afternoon the day before AND/OR check for rush tickets starting the morning of:
• Theatr App:
Download the Theatr app and set up alerts for the shows with the dates that you're interested in. I love this resale app because it eliminates the problem of scammers and scalpers by (1) not releasing payment until after the show and (2) requiring proof of purchase with the rule that tickets cannot be sold for more than was originally paid.
• Met Opera App:
Download the Met Opera app. You automatically get 20% off your first full-price ticket order (up to 6 tickets). The app is also where to enter the $25 rush-ticket lottery (up to 2 tickets); winners notified ~10:00am the day before. Even if you don't win, you're usually given some other sort of discount for that performance just for trying.
• Box Office Rush Tickets:
For pretty much all performing arts shows in the city, it's always an option to go to the box office in person to ask for cheap tickets for that day's performance. (This also avoids processing fees.) Check online to verify there are still unsold seats, check box office hours, then go request rush tickets (you must say the word "rush" in order to get the good price).
You could spend 10 years here and still not see them all! I created Google Maps lists originally for my own personal use, but have updated them to share with visitors. I hope they are helpful in planning what to see based on your budget and schedule!
